Urban South Brewery Expands to Houston
Urban South Brewing, located in New Orleans since 2016, is opening A new 14,000 square-foot facility including a 10-barrel brewhouse, canning line, a dedicated barrel and blending room, and a taproom featuring a large patio and beer garden in Houston, Texas. Tickets are now on sale for a VIP Pre-Opening Event on February 28th. They will also be teaming up with Brew Bros to host a Sour Social event on March 28th.
What Is an Oenobeer?
The hybrid wine-beer style you may have seen start to crop up has a name. Hop Culture’s Emma Balter tracked down a few brewers making these beers to help define the style.
There’s no official definition for what counts as an oenobeer, meaning the increasing number of brewers dabbling in these crossovers is free to experiment and put their own spin on it. Some use actual grapes, some just use juice, others age their brews in wine barrels. Differences in approach make the oenobeer trend an exciting new territory for beer (and wine!) lovers to discover.
Pickle Beer?
A few breweries have recently released pickle flavored beers. Martin House’s Best Maid Sour Pickle is perhaps the best known. Others include Burning Barrel’s Pickleback and Wachusett Brewing’s Willy Dilly. Will this trend catch on? Probably not…

Bottleshare Rasies Money for Muddy Creek Brewery
Bottleshare, a non-profit benefiting craft beverage employees, is looking to help the employees of Muddy Creek Brewery which was recently destroyed by a fire. This latest effort is raising funds for employee support and offsetting disaster-induced costs in dealing with the aftermath of the January 23rd fire.
