How did your interest in craft beer begin?

While I tried a few IPAs at the recommendation of friends, my real interest in craft beer began circa 2014 when I had The Bruery’s Tart of Darkness. I already had an affinity for stouts, so the dark color of the beer intrigued me, but the tartness blew me away. I still refer to that beer as my “gateway sour.” Shortly after, I started going to beer releases, making beer friends, and diving deeper into the craft scene.

What are your favorite and least favorite beer styles?

My favorite styles are stouts and sours, by far, and I prefer them barrel-aged. Least favorite would probably have to be West Coast IPAs. They are often too bitter, piney, and dank for my particular palate.

If you could only drink three beers for the rest of your life what would they be?

That’s a tough question! Probably @greencheekbeer‘s Cocohut – milkshake IPA; @bottlelogicbrewing‘s Jam the Radar – stout (or really any Stasis Project beer, lol); and @casa_agria‘s Guayaba de la Pasión – berliner weisse.

Tell us about one of your favorite craft beer Instagram accounts.

I like too many to name just one, I’m sorry! I personally love beer accounts that give you a little more than just the beer, that give you some solid insights to the people behind the screen. People like @black_beer_geek and @homebrewheero always come with great beer content and some real talk; they’re genuinely dope humans who love craft. I also love memes, lol so @localcraftmemes and @hazeboiz definitely keep me entertained.

Tell us about your favorite drinking buddy.

My favorite drinking buddy has to be @alecksg626. He’s always so generous and enthusiastic about sharing beers, and is always down to try anything. We have different palates for sure, but I love his open-mindedness and hearing his perspective about different beers. He’s also the best beer photographer and chugging partner a gal could ask for.

Tell us two truths and a lie about yourself.

  • I was a member of Toastmasters.
  • I’ve visited breweries in all 50 states.
  • I believe pineapple has a place in the pizza world.
